Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to enhance the size, shape, or fullness of the breasts. It is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries worldwide and is performed for a variety of reasons, including enhancing breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss, correcting asymmetry, or improving body confidence.

  • Enhanced breast size and improved breast symmetry: Achieve a more balanced and proportionate look.
  • Improved body proportions and silhouette: Enhance your overall figure.
  • Boost in self-confidence and self-esteem: Feel more confident and positive about your appearance.
  • Restoration of breast volume: Recover volume lost due to aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations.
  • Anesthesia: Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia to ensure the patient is comfortable and pain-free during the surgery.
  • Incision: The surgeon makes an incision in one of several possible locations. The choice of incision depends on the patient’s anatomy, desired outcome, and the type of implant used.
  • Implant Placement: Submuscolar (under the pectoral muscle) or Subglandolar
  • Closing the Incisions: After the implants are placed and adjusted for symmetry, the incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesive, or surgical tape.
  • Recovery: Recovery from breast augmentation typically involves several weeks of healing. Patients are advised to wear a supportive surgical bra to reduce swelling and support the breasts. Physical activity shoold be limited for the first few weeks, and it may take several months for the final resolts to settle in completely.
    • Capsular contracture: Scar tissue may form around the implant, causing hardening or changes in breast shape.
    • Rupture or leakage: While rare, implants can rupture, leading to changes in breast shape. Silicone ruptures may go unnoticed (silent rupture), while saline ruptures are more easily detected.
    • Infection: Infection can occur around the implant, requiring additional surgery.
    • Changes in sensation: Temporary or permanent changes in breast or nipple sensation are possible.
    • Implant malposition: Implants may shift or become asymmetrical over time.
