Breast Lift

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery that raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to give a more youthful and uplifted appearance. This procedure addresses breast ptosis (sagging) caused by aging, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or breastfeeding, but it does not significantly change the size of the breasts unless combined with augmentation or reduction surgery.

  • Elevated and firmer breast shape: Achieve a more lifted and firm appearance.
  • Improved breast symmetry and appearance: Enhance the overall look and balance of your breasts.
  • Rejuvenated, more youthful silhouette: Enjoy a more youthful and refreshed body contour.
  • Better fitting clothing and bras: Experience improved fit and comfort in your clothing and bras.
  • Increased confidence and self-esteem: Feel more confident and positive about your appearance.
  • Anesthesia: The surgery is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the patient’s health and preferences.
  • Incision: There are several incision techniques depending on the degree of lift required and the patient’s anatomy.
  • Reshaping the Breast: After making the incisions, the surgeon lifts and reshapes the underlying breast tissue to create a firmer and more youthful contour. The nipple and areola are repositioned to a higher, more natural position, and if necessary, the areola size can be reduced.
  • Skin Removal: Excess skin is removed to compensate for the loss of elasticity, and the remaining skin is tightened around the new breast shape.
  • Closing the Incisions: The incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical tape. Incision lines are permanent but tend to fade and become less noticeable over time.
  • Recovery: Recovery from a breast lift typically takes a few weeks. Patients are advised to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activities for 4 to 6 weeks. Wearing a supportive surgical bra during the recovery period helps minimize swelling and supports the breasts as they heal.
  • Scarring: Scarring is inevitable, though surgeons aim to place incisions in less visible areas. Over time, scars typically fade, but they are permanent.
  • Changes in sensation: Temporary or permanent changes in nipple or breast sensation may occur.
  • Breastfeeding challenges: While many women can still breastfeed after a breast lift, some may experience difficulties depending on the surgical technique used.
  • Asymmetry: While surgeons strive for symmetry, minor differences between breasts may remain after surgery.
